Charter Schools a Favorable Choice for Many Families

A large population of lower-income students in Washington, DC are being educated in charter schools.  Many of those students are meeting and exceeding benchmarks, as evidenced by standardized test scores.

"Favorable attitudes to choice are underscored by parental demand with families of more than 800,000 African-American students choosing public charter schools. Additionally, charters serve a higher share of African-American students than district schools."
